Job summary

Sumitomo Pharma America is looking for a Director of Medical Advocacy & Medical Education to lead advocacy strategy and external engagement within SMPA Medical Affairs. You will translate patient perspectives into strategic initiatives, partner with cross-functional teams, and drive education grants while shaping access and disease education programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred (e.g., MPH, MS, PharmD, MD, PhD).
10+ years of experience in patient advocacy, Medical Affairs, or related fields.
Proven ability to build external partnerships and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
Experience leading patient advisory boards and insight-generation activities within a compliant environment.
Strong understanding of Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and access environments.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute advocacy strategies aligned with therapeutic area priorities and patient needs.
Build and maintain relationships with patient advocacy organizations and professional societies.
Lead patient advisory boards, insight-generation activities, and educational initiatives.
Serve as a strategic advisor translating patient insights into actionable recommendations for Medical Affairs.
Coordinate executive engagement, communications, and cross-functional collaboration across the organization.
