Job summary

Aflac, Incorporated is hiring a Director of Client Accounting-Tax Services to lead billing, premium administration and revenue recognition for Life, Absence, Disability and VB product lines. The role partners with operations, product, finance, tax, and sales to ensure seamless delivery of accounting services.

The position requires a strong background in GAAP accounting, experience with premium administration, and a track record of improving accuracy and controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience with 5+ years in management; knowledge of group insurance financial structures.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for client accounting functions supporting Life, Absence, Disability and VB product lines.
• Partners with operations, product, finance, tax and sales teams to ensure alignment and delivery of accounting services.
• Lead initiatives to enhance financial accuracy, streamline procedures, and improve client outcomes across product portfolios.
• Oversee end-to-end client accounting processes including billing, premium collection, remittance, and reconciliation.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and tax rules.
• Strengthen accounting controls to reduce risk, improve audit readiness, and ensure accuracy.
• Maintain strong controls over client billing, cash handling, and revenue recognition.
• Prepare or oversee reporting packages, including client financial summaries and audit documentation.
• Support sales and leadership with financial insights for renewals, pricing and forecasting.
• Collaborate to deploy alternate funding arrangements for applicable products.
• Work with IT to enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and automation.
• Support internal audits and SOC controls.
• Serve as senior financial partner for key clients; resolve escalations professionally.
• Participate in client meetings to review billing performance and trends.
• Represent accounting in steering committees and business reviews.
• Enhance decision-making through data-driven insights and best practices.
• Contribute financial service expertise to the company’s value proposition.
