Job summary

Novartis is seeking a Director, AI Foundations Engineer to lead the engineering strategy and execution for a scalable agentic AI operating system. You will guide architecture, development, and operations, partnering with product, data, security, and business teams to deliver resilient AI services that drive measurable business value.

This role can be based remotely across the U.S.; travel and hours defined by the Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

• 8+ years AI engineering experience with leadership in product strategy and delivery.
• Experience translating business needs into scalable AI/product solutions.
• Strong cross-functional leadership across Engineering, Innovation, Design, Data Science, Commercial, and other teams.
• Experience coaching product managers and establishing PM practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of AI foundations and scalable platform services.
• Define standards, practices to promote scalability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with product, data, security, and business teams to align capabilities with priorities.
• Oversee engineering teams delivering reusable platform components and workflows.
