Job summary

TEKsystems seeks a Direct Lending Specialist for a 100% remote, short-term contract role. You will review and underwrite consumer loan applications, analyze financial data, manage a fast-paced loan pipeline, and communicate decisions to applicants through calls and correspondence.

The ideal candidate brings 12+ years in banking or credit unions with strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound lending decisions while delivering excellent member service.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of banking/credit union experience in loan origination and/or underwriting.
• Experience reviewing and underwriting consumer loan applications.
• Ability to analyze credit reports and personal financial information.
• Understanding of consumer lending guidelines and risk mitigation.
• Experience managing a high-volume loan pipeline.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating with applicants and internal teams by phone.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced lending environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

• Review and underwrite consumer loan applications in accordance with guidelines.
• Analyze credit reports, account information, financial statements, and collateral.
• Calculate financial ratios and evaluate credit utilization and collateral when applicable.
• Communicate loan decisions, requirements, and conditions to applicants.
• Collect documentation and conditions to prepare approved loans for processing.
• Manage a high-volume loan pipeline while meeting production and service expectations.
• Handle inbound calls from applicants regarding new consumer loan applications.
• Originate and underwrite consumer loan products.
• Review approvals and conditions to ensure all requirements are satisfied.
• Enter loan information into loan origination and core banking systems.
• Identify potentially fraudulent applications and escalate appropriately.
• Communicate adverse lending decisions professionally and clearly.
• Provide applicants with accurate expectations regarding loan process and timelines.
• Assist team members with loan-related questions and transactions.
• Maintain compliance with lending policies, procedures, and regulations.
