Job summary

Sphinx Defense, Inc. is seeking a DevOps Engineer to help advance our automated build and deployment platform for a US government satellites program. The role involves shaping infrastructure, pipelines, and security across AWS and Kubernetes, partnering with engineering teams to deliver reliable systems.

You’ll influence both process and tooling as an early member of a small team, enabling scalable, observable, and secure deployments with substantial impact on mission-critical missions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on production AWS-based Kubernetes (EKS) environments.
• Experience writing, maintaining, and optimizing GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Creating, deploying, and maintaining Helm charts for Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of AWS IAM and cross-account access.
• Troubleshooting applications and services in AWS and Kubernetes.
• Python or Go for automation and tooling.
• Maintaining highly available cloud infrastructure with security in mind.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support AWS-based Kubernetes infrastructure and services.
• Ensure platform reliability, availability, and security across cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines to support software delivery.
• Build and maintain Terraform modules and IaC solutions.
• Create and manage Helm charts for Kubernetes deployments.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, platform, and application issues across AWS and Kubernetes.
• Manage AWS IAM permissions and cross-account access configurations.
• Partner with software teams to support operational needs and platform improvements.
• Continuously improve system performance, automation, observability, and efficiency.
