Job summary

Virginia Tourism Corporation is seeking a Destination Development Manager to oversee the Counties of Amelia, Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Culpeper, Cumberland, Fauquier, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Orange, Powhatan, Rappahannock and the City of Lynchburg. The role focuses on guiding community-based tourism, new product development, and related business initiatives across Virginia.

Qualifications

Strong communication and organizational skills.
Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and collaboratively within a team.
Exhibit sound judgment and maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters.
Comprehensive knowledge of tourism development, marketing, economic development planning, entrepreneurship, leadership, and community development.
Knowledge of strategic planning, goal setting, and project planning and implementation preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

Provide tourism strategic planning, technical assistance, and product development guidance.
Present to local, regional, state, and federal organizations.
Provide cooperative marketing assistance to communities and small tourism-oriented businesses.
Connect tourism industry representatives and small businesses with VTC services.
