Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to support the Project Manager on VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization. This fully remote role requires strong problem-solving, rapid learning, and collaboration across government stakeholders and technical teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive federal civilian experience, capable of translating strategy into actionable plans, and maintaining accountability for milestones in a dynamic, remote work environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; 15+ years of work experience; 10 years can substitute for degree.
Project team oriented with excellent written and oral communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
Experience leading geographically dispersed teams in a remote environment.
Collaboration with development, engineering, and project management teams to deliver solutions.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.
Experience in operating in an agile environment is desirable.
Experience within a large Enterprise Health IT environment, specifically VA.

Responsibilities

Support the Project Manager in day-to-day program execution, priorities, deliverables, and stakeholder commitments.
Coordinate activities across SMEs, Data Analysts, Technical Writers, project teams, government stakeholders, and partners.
Translate client requirements and strategic direction into actionable plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
Monitor scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, issues, and resource requirements across multiple activities.
Identify emerging requirements and develop practical solutions before delivery impact.
Maintain documentation of activities, risks, and leadership communications.
Support development of executive briefings, status reports, and project plans.
Facilitate cross-functional meetings, drive action items to closure, ensure accountability.
