Job summary

Computer World Services, Corp. seeks a Journeyman Database and Application Support Engineer to ensure database and application availability and to coordinate recovery activities for the USMEPCOM ENLIST program.

The role diagnoses outages, dependencies, certificate and API issues across database, app, middleware, servers, and cloud components, collaborating with IT operations and software teams for production support and validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum of six (6) years of relevant database support, application support, systems engineering, production operations, or enterprise IT experience.
• Demonstrated experience diagnosing database availability, application dependencies, connection failures, services, certificates, and API-related outages.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support the availability, performance, health, and recoverability of enterprise databases and applications.
• Diagnose database availability issues, failed services, connection failures, authentication problems, resource constraints, and performance degradation.
• Analyze application dependencies across databases, servers, middleware, APIs, certificates, networks, cloud, storage, and external interfaces.
• Diagnose and resolve certificate failures and support certificate installation and renewal.
• Diagnose REST, SOAP, API gateway, endpoint, authentication, authorization, payload, and timeout issues.
• Support relational database platforms, application and web servers, middleware, schedulers, integration services, and runtime components.
• Participate in Outage Response Team activities, triage, diagnostics, and recovery, and maintain incident timelines.
• Coordinate with operations teams on infrastructure issues and with software teams on code defects, providing logs and impact assessments.
• Support root-cause analysis and track post-incident corrective actions.
• Execute implementation plans, upgrades, and rollback steps with pre/post-validation.
• Support backup, restoration, replication, failover, HA, and disaster-recovery activities, validating end-to-end paths.
• Apply updates and remediation of vulnerabilities and POA&M items, maintaining diagrams and guides.
