Job summary

LMI Government Consulting is seeking a Data Scientist – Journeyman to support the Army's ammunition planning and resupply mission through data-driven analytics and ML models. You will develop, sustain, and refine forecasting models and dashboards within Army Vantage, enabling improved distribution efficiency and unit readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, business analytics, or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a closely related field.
• Experience with Python (pandas, scikit-learn, numpy) and SQL for data preparation, analysis, and basic modeling.
• Building and validating regression, time series, or classification models.
• Working with large, structured datasets in relational databases or data warehouses.
• Strong ability to translate business questions into analytical problems and communicate results clearly.
• Active SECRET clearance; only US Citizens can obtain a clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support development, testing, and refinement of forecasting and analytics models for ammunition consumption and resupply.
• Maintain and enhance Vantage-based analytics, dashboards, and data products.
• Integrate and validate data into Vantage pipelines to centralize munitions data.
• Perform descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with logisticians and Government stakeholders to define analytical use cases and data needs.
• Develop and maintain reproducible analytical workflows using Python, SQL, and related tools.
• Monitor model performance and key metrics; provide clear visualizations and summaries for leadership.
• Support backlog management with user stories and technical tasks for data science work.
