Job summary

LMI Government Consulting is seeking a Data Scientist – Journeyman to join our team supporting the Army’s ammunition planning and resupply mission. You will develop, test, and refine data-driven analytics and ML models to improve forecasts and dashboards used for readiness.

You will collaborate with logisticians and Government stakeholders, translate complex questions into analytical solutions, and contribute to reproducible workflows in Python and SQL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, business analytics, or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a closely related field.
• Proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, numpy) and SQL for data prep, analysis, and basic modeling.
• Experience building and validating regression, time series, or classification models.
• Experience with large, structured datasets in relational databases or data warehouses.
• Strong ability to translate business questions into analytical problems and communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Active SECRET clearance; US Citizens only.

Responsibilities

• Support development, testing, and refinement of forecasting and analytics models for ammunition consumption and resupply.
• Maintain and enhance Vantage-based analytics, dashboards, and data products.
• Assist in integrating and validating data into Vantage pipelines to centralize munitions data.
• Conduct descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics to identify trends and opportunities.
• Gather requirements with logisticians and Government stakeholders to define analytic use cases.
• Develop and maintain reproducible workflows using Python, SQL, and related tools; document logic and limitations.
• Monitor model performance and key metrics; update as needed.
• Prepare visualizations and summary analyses to support leadership decision-making.
