Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a hands-on data engineering leader to own our ad-tech analytics and reporting platform. You will manage engineers, set technical direction, and contribute code while guiding a phased replacement of a legacy pipeline.

You will oversee high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines, build canonical event models, and ensure accurate, timely reporting across real-time and batch paths. Expect a flexible remote/work model with overlap across US and Australia.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating production data systems, including high-volume event data and near-real-time pipelines.
• Directly managing data engineers while remaining hands-on in production systems.
• Strong production experience with ClickHouse or a comparable OLAP database.
• Extensive Kafka experience: event design, producers/consumers, delivery semantics, replay, and troubleshooting.
• Advanced SQL skills and time-series query patterns understanding.
• Familiar with ad-tech data flows and reporting accuracy considerations.
• Experience shipping pipelines with CI/CD, orchestration, observability, and safe backfills.
• Ability to read application code to improve event schemas, logging, and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Own data platform and hands-on engineering, setting technical direction for core analytics.
• Design, build, and operate high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines from event sources to reporting.
• Lead delivery while mentoring engineers; maintain production code quality and reviews.
• Define ClickHouse schema standards, partitioning, sharding, and performance tuning.
• Partner with Product/Analytics leadership to define monetization and reporting requirements.
• Establish testing, monitoring, data quality, and SLAs for reliable reporting.
