Job summary

Melotech is building a unified data platform powering media products. As Backend Engineer - Data & Orchestration, you own data pipelines, storage, and services that keep systems reliable and scalable company-wide.

You will design fault-tolerant, event-driven pipelines (Airflow or Dagster), own CI/CD and cloud infra, and collaborate with non-technical teams to explain data capabilities and trade-offs. Remote work with equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3 to 10 years of hands-on engineering ownership of production systems.
• Strong Python backend with async and long-running jobs; JS/TS backends helpful.
• Experience with unreliable data sources, proxies, rate limits, anti-bot measures.
• Design of fault-tolerant event-driven pipelines (Airflow, Dagster) at scale.
• Data reliability, monitoring (Datadog) and cost-conscious storage.
• Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, cloud proficiency; security and access controls.

Responsibilities

• Data collection and reliability across scrapers and platform integrations.
• Own end-to-end pipelines from orchestration to databases and warehouses.
• Build monitoring and alerting to catch anomalies before downstream impact.
• Develop production services and APIs in backend and JS/TS backends.
• Own CI/CD, infrastructure as code and cloud security/access management.
• Consolidate complex systems into a single documented platform; guide juniors.
