Job summary

OpenSesame is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to guide a lean data engineering team and build an AI-ready data foundation. You will lead governance, scalable systems, and reliable analytics, partnering with analysts, business leaders, and product teams to improve data accessibility and trust across the company.

The role blends people management with technical leadership, focusing on architecture, data quality, and enterprise integrations to support AI initiatives and scalable reporting.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision: conduct 1:1s, set goals, provide feedback, manage career growth.
• Engineering culture: foster a safe, transparent team environment focused on growth.
• Team upskilling: mentor engineers in data engineering best practices, design patterns, testing, and ops.
• Delivery & execution: drive team velocity, remove bottlenecks, ensure sustainable analytics delivery.
• Agile & work management: plan, standups, priortize; translate needs into incremental stories.
• Process critique & improvement: regularly refine team processes to reduce friction.
• Stakeholder enablement: be the primary technical contact for analytics and leaders.
• Project communication: maintain transparency on roadmaps, risks, delays and progress.
• Business & strategy alignment: translate complex tech concepts for cross-functional partners.
• AI-ready platform architecture: design and scale Snowflake-based data platform and ingestion layers.
• Enterprise integrations: oversee data ingestion from Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite, Zendesk, Jira, Confluence.
• Data governance & observability: establish standards for ownership, access, lineage, testing, and monitoring.
