Job summary

Merkle is seeking a Data & Software Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-based data solutions powering marketing products. You will translate business needs into reliable application logic, services, identity capabilities, and data products while applying modern software-engineering practices to ensure security, accuracy, and high code quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS, Engineering, or IS.
• 2+ years of software and/or data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL skills and relational/non-relational data modeling familiarity.
• Python or another major language for clean, testable code and reusable components.
• Experience with cloud-based apps, data warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
• Hands-on with AI coding assistants/agents, secure usage and validation.
• Knowledge of Agile, Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and issue tracking (JIRA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into technical designs and modular components.
• Build and maintain reusable data processing components and APIs.
• Develop data-quality tests and CI/CD pipelines for reliable delivery.
• Profile and optimize performance across code, services, and data stores.
• Troubleshoot production issues and communicate risks and timelines to stakeholders.
