Job summary

B Lab in New York, NY is hiring a Junior Data Engineer to build and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure for the Data & AI team. You will unblock onboarding of new data sources and collaborate with analytics and governance teams to ensure data quality and availability.

This remote-first role requires residency in NY/PA/Brazil with in-office onboarding, and weekly presence in the NYC area as needed. You will contribute to ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and governance, while exploring new

Qualifications

• A BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in data engineering
• Experience with DevOps culture emphasizing CI/CD
• Proficiency with Git and collaboration workflows
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code for provisioning cloud infrastructure
• Proven experience in designing and deploying data solutions
• Experience designing, building, and onboarding new data sources into ETL/ELT pipelines
• Ability to take product/project ownership
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools
• Knowledge of Hadoop/Spark/Hive is a plus
• Experience using AI coding assistants to improve development speed
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Own Pipeline Development End-to-End: design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
• Add New Data Sources: evaluate, scope, and integrate new data sources
• Partner Across Pillars to align data needs with pipeline work
• Monitor & Troubleshoot: proactively resolve pipeline failures and data quality issues
• Support Foundational Data Models with the Senior Analytics Engineer
• Ensure Data Availability for Data Analysts and ML Engineers
• Follow Data Governance Standards as defined by Data Governance Lead
• Evaluate Pipeline Tooling and pilot new methods
• Quantify Impact of reliability and onboarding speed on analytics and ML
