Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer for the Data Center and Mission Critical team, primarily remote within the U.S. The role focuses on HVAC design for data centers, CFD analysis, and integrating cooling systems with electrical infrastructure.

Occasional travel may be required for key milestones and client meetings. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of data center experience, a PE license, and knowledge of energy-efficient cooling strategies to support scalable, reliable data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
• P. E. registration is required

Responsibilities

• Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC System Design: Developing and designing Heat Rejection and HVAC systems tailored for data centers.
• Cooling System Selection: Selecting air/water side cooling systems for data centers based on requirements.
• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis: Conducting CFD simulations to optimize airflow and identify hotspots.
• Redundancy and Fault Tolerance: Designing HVAC systems with redundancy and fault-tolerant features.
• Heat Load Calculation and Capacity Planning: Performing heat load calculations and capacity planning for IT equipment growth.
• Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Implementing energy-efficient HVAC design strategies to minimize energy consumption.
• Air Quality and Filtration: Designing filtration and monitoring systems for air quality in data centers.
• Coordination with Electrical and Mechanical Systems: Collaborating to integrate HVAC with electrical infrastructure.
