Job summary

Fathom Management seeks a Data Architect/Program Lead to design, implement, and govern enterprise-scale data solutions for the FBI. You will combine hands-on data architecture with technical leadership, emphasizing cloud platforms, data mesh, governance, and scalable ETL infrastructure.

The role supports analytics, self-service capabilities, and data discoverability, with remote work primarily and periodic onsite at Clarksburg, WV FBI facility as needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and implementing data architectures.
• Experience with large-scale data environments (lakes, warehouses, mesh).
• 5+ years cloud-based data platforms (AWS/Azure/Google) for storage and analytics.
• Hands-on ETL/ELT pipeline design.
• Experience with AWS data services: S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, Lambda.
• Experience implementing data governance, privacy, lineage, and discoverability.
• Experience with data catalogs and governance tooling.
• Experience designing domain-specific data products.
• 2+ years leading and mentoring data engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder communication and agile experience.
• Active Secret clearance or above.
• Willingness to travel to Clarksburg, WV when required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design enterprise data solutions at high level.
• Evaluate architecture options and new data technologies.
• Design and maintain scalable cloud-based data infrastructure.
• Build ETL pipelines using AWS services (S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, Lambda).
• Collaborate with domain teams to deploy domain-specific data products.
• Establish and enforce data governance standards across assets.
• Maintain data catalogs and governance tooling.
• Automate governance workflows supporting data integrity and discoverability.
• Lead implementation and ongoing support of data mesh architecture.
• Ensure availability and reliability of data mesh software and infra.
• Guide organizational adoption of data mesh principles.
• Develop and deliver training for data stewards and technical teams.
• Align data architecture with analytics objectives.
• Lead and mentor data engineering resources.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and delivery processes.
• Provide team-specific technical training as needed.
