Job summary

Fortress Information Security is seeking a Cyber Operator to join our Orlando/Remote team. You will support vulnerability management for a major client, handling triage, remediation coordination, validation, and clear communications for technical and leadership audiences.

This role offers growth as you build foundational expertise in cybersecurity operations. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in cybersecurity or related fields, strong written skills, and experience with ITSM tools.

Qualifications

1–3 years in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, IT operations, SOC operations, or related field.
Working familiarity with vulnerabilities, patching, CVEs, CVSS scoring, and risk fundamentals.
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to produce audit-ready documentation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
Strong organizational habits with attention to detail and reliable follow-through.
Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to learn new tools and apply AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

Execute day-to-day vulnerability management workflows in line with procedures and SLAs.
Monitor scanners, advisories, threat feeds to identify vulnerabilities and escalate as needed.
Validate findings against advisories and asset context; document determinations with evidence.
Create remediation action plans with owners and due dates; onboard new systems.
Create and manage remediation tickets in ITSM platforms; track status to closure.
Verify remediation with re-scans and patch/version updates; assemble closure evidence.
Support risk-acceptance intake and escalation processes.
Participate in coordinated response sessions for escalation; document actions.
Maintain records across systems and perform data-quality reviews.
Own recurring reporting and executive readouts with timely delivery.
Refine operational communications for clarity; escalate substantial changes.
Use AI-assisted tools with human review; build program proficiency.
Support additional workflows and projects as assigned.
