Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist to support import/export operations and ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.

This role collaborates with logistics, purchasing, finance, customer service, and sales teams to manage customs activities, reduce risk, and enable efficient global trade. Key responsibilities include HTS classification, country-of-origin records, reviewing import/export documentation, and assisting with USMCA and other trade

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in customs compliance, import/export, or international trade.
• HTS classification knowledge and U.S. Customs regulations.
• Country-of-origin requirements, customs valuation, and import documentation.
• Knowledge of U.S. export regulations.
• Experience with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Classify products using HTS codes and maintain records.
• Review imports/testing documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with brokers and forwarders to ensure compliance.
• Support export compliance activities and licensing requirements.
• Identify duty savings opportunities and monitor tariff changes.
• Help implement trade programs (e.g., USMCA) and cost analyses.
• Develop internal controls and train staff on trade compliance.
