Job summary

Sterling Engineering in Lincolnshire, IL is seeking an Import / Export Specialist to manage day-to-day international trade compliance and support inbound and outbound shipments. Qualifications

• 3+ years of import/export experience or related field.
• Strong knowledge of HTS/HS classification and U.S. Customs regulations.
• Experience coordinating with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage import and export compliance for inbound and outbound shipments.

Job description

We are seeking an Import / Export Specialist to manage day-to-day international trade compliance and support inbound and outbound shipments across the organization. This role will be responsible for customs classification, documentation, broker coordination, regulatory compliance, and ensuring accurate and efficient cross-border movement of equipment and parts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage import and export compliance for inbound and outbound shipments
• Maintain accurate HTS/HS classifications and country-of-origin information for machines, equipment, and parts
• Work with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure accurate and timely customs filings
• Respond to requests from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and customs brokers regarding classification, units of measure, manufacturers, valuation, and other trade information
• Monitor trade compliance systems and customs portals, including ACE and other platforms
