Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Contract Curriculum Writer to create student and teacher content for Grades 4–8 within our elementary religious education program. Working within established scope and templates, you will write developmentally appropriate, theologically faithful material for Catholic schools and parish catechetical programs.

This temporary, hourly position reports to the Associate General Manager and collaborates with the Senior Product Manager, Curriculum Specialist, Editors, and Project

Qualifications

• Experience creating elementary curriculum content for religious education.
• Ability to write engaging, age-appropriate texts.
• Knowledge of Catholic teachings and the Catechism.
• Ability to write teacher guides and activities.

Responsibilities

• Write student text for Grades 4–8 that is engaging, age-appropriate, and theologically accurate.
• Develop student activities that reinforce lesson objectives and help children apply what they learn.
• Write assessments aligned to lesson and unit objectives.
• Write teaching text that equips classroom teachers and parish catechists to lead each lesson with confidence.
• Provide clear instructional guidance, background for the teacher, discussion prompts, etc.
• Ensure teacher materials work in both Catholic school and parish settings.
• Write take-home pages that help parents reinforce lesson content and continue faith formation at home.
