Job summary

Paired, a prominent staffing and recruiting agency, is seeking a Criminal Defense Paralegal for a remote position with a US-based law firm. You will support attorneys in trial preparation, draft pleadings, and manage case files, while ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication with clients and witnesses.

The role requires 2–3 years of criminal defense paralegal experience, a solid understanding of criminal law, and proficiency with MS Office and legal research tools.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a legal setting.
• 2–3 years of paralegal experience with criminal defense focus strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of criminal law and applicable principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
• Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
• Fluency in English required.
• Experience with CLIO Manage is a plus.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with trial preparation by organizing case files and performing legal research.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and client correspondence in criminal defense matters.
• Review and summarize evidence, including police reports and witness statements.
• Maintain an organized case management system and ensure proper filing of documents.
• Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and experts to advance case progress.
• Coordinate exhibits and materials for trial preparation.
• Conduct legal research as needed to aid case development.
• Assist with administrative tasks including billing and case management duties.
