Job summary

NeighborWorks Capital is looking for a Loan Closer to manage the closing and funding process for a range of commercial real estate loans. You will coordinate with borrowers, attorneys, title companies, and staff to ensure accurate document prep, due diligence review, and successful closings.

Reporting to the Director of Loan Closings, the role supports remote work with occasional travel to Silver Spring, MD.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in commercial real estate loan closing, servicing, or administration.
• Knowledge of real estate finance and affordable housing financing programs (LIHTC, HOME, AHP).
• Experience reviewing and interpreting loan documentation, including title, survey, and environmental reports.
• Experience evaluating insurance documents (GL, builders risk, property).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage closing of commercial loans and coordinate activities with borrowers, title, attorneys, and lenders.
• Draft commitment letters and engage counsel.
• Prepare and update closing checklists; lead check-in calls for customer engagement.
• Analyze due diligence materials and advise on potential issues.
• Review and approve borrower and project insurance documents.
• Draft and review loan documents; create organized electronic files.
• Update Salesforce throughout the closing process.
• Prepare funding instructions to ensure proper funding and fee collection.
• Coordinate across time zones and travel as needed.
• Support project management and other teams; perform additional duties.
