Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems seeks a Controls Specialist / Controls Systems Engineer to join our federal team, supporting U.S. military and other federal sites with extensive international travel (about 80%).

The role leads HVAC BAS projects, programming, and commissioning, while ensuring safety and compliance. Per diem travel support is provided, with a base salary range of $115,000 to $150,000 depending on location and assignment.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience in system commissioning and/or programming of digital HVAC controls (DDC) systems.
• Knowledge of various electronic or digital controls systems, HVAC controls, and sites installation/servicing techniques.
• Must understand control theory and HVAC systems/equipment.
• Strong PC skills including MS Office and Windows.
• Ability to communicate technical material to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to travel ~80% internationally.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance; active clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site project leader to execute HVAC controls and BAS projects with assigned customers.
• Coordinate installations, system and network commissioning, training, and project closeout.
• Handle hardware/software programming, device verification, and commissioning documentation.
• Test and modify systems software as required.
• Provide coaching and technical assistance to subcontractors.
• Conduct site training for owner/operator and ensure proper operation manuals.
