Job summary

Koala Health seeks a hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations for a remote-first team, with occasional travel to Boston HQ. You’ll oversee AP, invoicing, balance sheet reconciliations, and external accounting partnerships, ensuring GAAP compliance and scalable controls.

The role partners with FP&A and operations to deliver accurate management reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-moving startup, and can build structure while staying hands-on.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and close processes.
• Hands-on AP, reconciliations, and vendor payments.
• Experience with external accountants and tax advisors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee external accounting firm and GAAP reporting.
• Move accounting in-house over time and manage AP.
• Oversee clinic invoicing, billing, and collections.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations from external CPAs.
• Coordinate month-end close with external accountants.
• Collaborate with FP&A for GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and audit readiness.
