Job summary

AES Corporation in Dayton, Ohio, is seeking a Control Room Operator to remotely monitor and control a diverse portfolio of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery assets.

Under limited supervision, you will monitor SCADA data, adjust generation parameters, develop outage schedules, and coordinate with O&M crews to ensure safe, reliable operation. This role requires a strong team mindset and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of control center operations experience in utility-scale renewables.
• Familiarity with electrical substation safety and operations.
• Knowledge of NERC standards and their impact on operations.
• Ability to follow operating procedures precisely.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of a growing fleet of utility-scale solar, wind and BESS assets.
• Monitor portfolio via SCADA system for faults, alarms, and performance issues.
• Adjust plant operating parameters as directed by operations management.
• Prepare operational reports to grid entities and internal teams.
• Communicate with and dispatch field O&M personnel for troubleshooting.
• Coordinate outage support and energy isolation with field crews.
• Develop and manage outage schedules and forecasting activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across AES and external entities.
• Create and track corrective maintenance tickets and SOPs.
• Assist onboarding and integration of new generation assets.
• Uphold regulatory compliance and safety culture; obtain required certifications.
• Participate in weather monitoring and emergency communications.
• Document actions and maintain logbooks per industry standards.
