Mercor is seeking a PhD-level Statistical Physics and Thermodynamics Physicist for a remote contract role. The project runs 8 to 10 weeks with an 10-hour per week commitment, focusing on AI model reasoning and verification of physics-based solutions.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in statistical or mathematical physics, has 3–5 representative publications, and is proficient in LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter. English at least a B2 level is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Evaluate research-level physics problems in your subfield to enhance AI model reasoning.
• Design and solve complex physics challenges, ensuring solutions are peer-verifiable.
• Review completed work and provide structured feedback to improve AI model outputs.
• Collaborate with AI research teams to align on problem-solving methodologies.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines with flexible hours.
