Job summary

Mercor is seeking an Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physicist (PhD) for a remote contract project. The role focuses on evaluating AI-generated physics content, validating model outputs, and guiding data quality improvements.

You will collaborate with AI researchers and subject matter experts to ensure rigorous coverage of physics concepts. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in atomic, molecular or optical physics with a published record of 3–5 representative papers and strong proficiency in LaTeX,

Qualifications

• PhD in atomic, molecular or optical physics required.
• Three to five representative papers published in relevant field.
• Verifiable publication record with 3–5 papers.
• Proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter.
• English at B2 or above, including written reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the accuracy and depth of AI-generated content in physics to strengthen reasoning and rigor in model outputs.
• Review complex physics problems for alignment with domain principles and methodologies.
• Provide clear, structured feedback to AI research teams to improve training data quality and downstream performance.
• Develop evaluation rubrics and benchmarks for assessing AI-generated physics tasks and solutions.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure consistency, relevance, and coverage across datasets.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.

Position: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physicist (PhD)
Type: Contract
Compensation: $80–$110/hour
Location: Remote
Duration: 8 to 10 week
Commitment: 10 hours/week
