Job summary

Mercor is seeking a High Energy Physicist (PhD) for a remote, short-term contract to contribute to AI model reasoning with advanced physics.

You will tackle research-level problems, publish a few representative papers, and use LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter to document solutions. This role requires a PhD in high energy theory or nuclear theory and English at least B2.

The engagement runs 8 to 10 weeks, at about 10 hours per week, paying $80–$110 per hour.

Qualifications

• PhD in high energy theory, nuclear theory, or closely related field.
• English at B2 or above, including written reasoning.
• Three to five representative publications.
• Experience with loop calculations in quasi-PDF areas.
• Proficient with LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate research-level physics problems to enhance AI model reasoning.
• Design and solve complex physics challenges verifiable by specialists.
• Review and audit completed work for accuracy and principles.
• Collaborate independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and improve AI performance.
• Document solutions using LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.
