Job summary

Tidewater Community College invites applications for a part-time Computer Science Adjunct. The selected candidate will teach courses at the Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach campuses, with potential remote teaching via Zoom.

Responsibilities include planning, delivering, and providing timely feedback to students, maintaining records, and holding office hours. A Master’s in CS or 18 graduate hours in CS is required; teaching experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or graduate degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Computer Science.
• Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format.

Responsibilities

• Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in Computer Science.
• Align course activities with learning outcomes and employ active learning strategies.
• Deliver instruction and assess student learning with timely feedback and multiple assessments.
• Provide at least one office hour per week per course and communicate with students respectfully.
• Teach at any of the college’s campuses as assigned (Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach) or via remote options as needed.
