Job summary

Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads for 50 years, delivering computer science instruction on four campuses and online. The adjunct faculty member teaches courses, provides feedback, and supports student learning in-class, remotely via Zoom, or online environments.

Adjuncts must hold a Master’s in CS or 18 graduate hours in CS, demonstrate strong electronic communication, and be familiar with CANVAS or similar LMS.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or graduate degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Computer Science.
• Ability to communicate effectively in electronic format.
• Teaching experience in Computer Science.
• Teaching experience at the college level.
• Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems.

Responsibilities

• Create a learning environment that facilitates knowledge and skill acquisition.
• Align activities with student learning outcomes and provide timely feedback.
• Deliver instruction and assess student learning with timely feedback.
• Possibly teach during day, evening, or weekend as needed.
• Maintain at least 1 office hour per week for each course.
