Job summary

Sigma Systems, Inc. is seeking a Remote Scientist III in Computational Biology / Bioinformatics to support inflammation and immunological disease research.

This role focuses on designing and deploying bioinformatics workflows for processing and interpreting complex datasets to identify therapeutic targets and disease biomarkers. The candidate will apply statistical analysis, data mining, and multi-omics integration, with strong programming in Python and/or R, and experience with NGS data.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field (Bioinformatics/Computational Biology) or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience with a master's, or 7+ years with a bachelor's.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.
• Experience with NGS data analysis and multi-omics datasets.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and Bash scripting.
• Knowledge of public bioinformatics databases and data formats.
• Ability to develop well-structured, reproducible code.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy NGS data analysis workflows for target identification and biomarker discovery.
• Analyze genomic datasets including bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, and ATAC-seq.
• Develop bioinformatics methods for functional genomics and multi-omics integration.
• Process, visualize, and mine data from internal and public databases.
• Define QC measures to ensure analytical integrity.
• Automate data processing and reporting; maintain reproducible code.
• Communicate findings to colleagues and stakeholders; prepare technical docs.
