Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an Assoc Staff Attorney to support our Complex Litigation team. This role works remotely with Senior Attorneys to handle large general liability files across Illinois, focusing on motions, briefs, depositions and onsite appearances with our staff lawyers.

Qualified candidates will have a JD, Illinois license, strong research/writing skills and a collaborative, client-focused approach. Travel for court appearances and annual meetings is expected.

Qualifications

• Jurist Doctorate from an accredited law school and Illinois license to practice.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Effective communicator with negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze legal and factual issues and develop defense strategies.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions and briefs with supervision.
• Provide timely legal advice and client communication.
• Coordinate with court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
• Prepare witnesses for trials, hearings, arbitrations and ADRs.
• Attend CLE seminars as needed.
