Job summary

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Career Associate Attorney with 7+ years of complex civil litigation experience to join a premier Am Law firm. This long-term, non-partnership-track position offers meaningful client engagement, sophisticated litigation work, and sustainable work-life balance in a large firm setting.

The role requires J.D. from an ABA-accredited school, active bar admission, and strong drafting and discovery skills, including e-discovery and deposition support.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the state bar.
• 7+ years of complex civil litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery documents, and other substantive litigation filings.
• Experience managing discovery, including e-discovery.
• Strong case management and project management skills.
• Experience supporting depositions and trial preparation.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Writing sample required.

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation documents.
• Manage discovery, including document review, e-discovery, and production.
• Assist with deposition preparation, witness preparation, and trial preparation.
• Coordinate case strategy and litigation workflow while managing multiple matters simultaneously.
• Collaborate closely with litigation teams to deliver practical, high-quality legal solutions.
• Maintain strong organization and attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
