Job summary

UMB Bank is seeking a Community Mortgage Banker to support low-to-moderate income families across the UMB footprint. The role reports to the Director of Community Development and collaborates with the National Mortgage Sales Manager to promote home ownership and financial education.

Responsibilities include community outreach, pre-qualification of buyers, and structuring first mortgage loans while ensuring regulatory compliance. Remote position with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years mortgage and banking experience.
• Effective business communication, verbal and written.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with initiative and reliability.
• Thorough knowledge of FHA, VA, CONV guidelines and local real estate market.
• Current NMLS registration.
• S.A.F.E. registration at time of employment.
• Ability to travel and work outside of the office regularly.

Responsibilities

• Represent UMB at community events and business development functions.
• Promote financial awareness and identify community needs to align with product and services.
• Establish and maintain referral relationships with community-based organizations, internal partners, real estate agents and customers.
• Recommend product or services based on community feedback to enhance current offerings.
• Counsel and pre-qualify potential home buyers on credit and affordability.
• Facilitate pre-qualification/pre-approval analysis and explain rate, terms and mortgage insurance to applicants.
