Job summary

UMB Bank is seeking a Community Mortgage Banker to serve the credit needs of low to moderate income families within the UMB footprint. The role reports to the Director of Community Development and works with the National Mortgage Sales Manager to promote financial literacy and homeownership.

The position focuses on CRA mortgage product expertise, community outreach, and pre-qualification of borrowers, with a remote/field-based work arrangement and travel as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalence.
• 3-5+ years mortgage and banking experience.
• Effective business communication skills (verbal & written).
• Time management and organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel and work outside the office regularly.
• Knowledge of FHA, VA, CONV guidelines and local real estate market.
• Current National Mortgage Licensing System registration.

Responsibilities

• Represent UMB at community events and business development functions.
• Promote financial awareness and identify community needs to align with products and services.
• Establish and maintain referral relationships with community organizations, partners, real estate agents, and customers.
• Recommend products based on community feedback to enhance offerings.
• Counsel and pre-qualify potential home buyers on credit and affordability.
• Explain pre-qualification/pre-approval details and mortgage terms to applicants.
• Focus on expanding home ownership for first-time buyers.
• Provide financial education trainings for the community.
