Job summary

MuckRock is seeking a Community Engagement Manager to be the front door to our editorial content, products, tools and trainings. You will design and execute an engagement strategy across newsletters, social channels, and online communities to reach journalists, transparency advocates, data volunteers, donors and the public.

This remote role requires strategic thinking, collaboration across teams, and hands-on execution to grow audience participation, drive distribution, and support fundraising

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in community or audience-building roles.
• 2–3 years owning strategy for campaigns or programs.
• Experience with nonprofit, media or mission-driven organizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a forward-looking community engagement strategy with goals, metrics and milestones.
• Own newsletters (For the Record, Sunlight Insights) and drive audience growth and engagement.
• Own social media strategy and execution to amplify editorial output and product updates.
• Build active Slack communities across the MuckRock ecosystem to foster dialogue and participation.
• Drive traffic and engagement across content, tools and events, coordinating with editorial, product and development teams.
