Job summary

AARP is seeking a journalism/advertising/public relations/marketing intern to support the Nationwide Community Presence Communications team. This fully remote internship can be performed from anywhere in the United States and its territories, starting January 2027, with potential extension.

You will assist staff and volunteers in telling local work stories, manage data, and help produce articles, videos, and presentations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in journalism, advertising, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
• Undergraduates must be juniors or seniors; graduates or postdocs must remain enrolled.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Canva and PowerPoint a plus.
• Ability to work across cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
• Self-starter, adaptable, and able to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
• Willingness to share writing samples or video/presentation projects.

Responsibilities

• Apply innovative thinking and problem-solving in a matrix environment.
• Compile research and data analyses and write up findings.
• Assist with writing, editing, and publishing articles through AARP CMS.
• Organize creative assets and toolkits for local markets and award applications.
• Audit, edit, and create internal communications tools and resources.
• Assist in managing digital marketing campaigns and sharing learnings.
• Support the digital user flow during marketing campaigns, including user testing and analytics.
• Assist with campaign-related emails as needed.
• Create and distribute presentations and toolkits.
