AARP is seeking a creative, design-savvy intern for a paid Fall 2026 internship in the External Relations team. You will help amplify advocacy work through the media and gain experience in strategic communications for aging-related policy issues.

The position offers remote work on Mondays and Fridays within the United States, with opportunities to support events, research, drafting, and report design. Ideal candidates are enrolled in communications/related fields and can manage multiple projects.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university for the internship.
  • Pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Promote policy issues on family caregiving, health and welfare, and prescription drugs using strategic, analytical and creative thinking.
  • Engage in communications strategies and organize events as part of these efforts.
  • Research policy issues, draft documents to support advocacy, participate in strategy meetings, and support remote and in-person media events.
  • Design visually appealing post-campaign reports to highlight reach and impact of advocacy campaigns.
