Job summary

SMA Support Services is seeking a detail-oriented estimator with strong experience in reading construction drawings and commercial roofing. The role focuses on blueprint review, take-offs, and building material quantification within a high-volume bid environment.

Training is provided, with a long-term growth path and work-from-home setup. You will develop complete material lists, prepare bid packages, and coordinate with manufacturers to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture preferred.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret full construction plan sets.
• Experience reviewing commercial construction documents.
• High attention to detail and analytical rigor.
• Comfort working in a high-volume bid environment.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Experience in commercial roofing or building envelope systems is preferred but not required if architectural competence is strong.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret full construction drawing sets.
• Review roof assemblies, flashing details, wall details, and penetrations.
• Extract scope directly from GC-provided plans.
• Identify discrepancies between architectural details and manufacturer requirements.
• Translate architectural intent into accurate commercial roofing scope.
• Perform take-offs using Building Connected or STACK.
• Calculate total roof square footage and/material quantities.
• Build complete material lists based on roof assembly specs.
• Draft professional commercial bid packages and submittals.
• Coordinate manufacturer compliance documentation.
