Job description

We are seeking an experienced Remote Commercial Roofing Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for commercial roofing projects of varying size and complexity. The successful candidate will review drawings, specifications, site information, photographs, and inspection reports to develop detailed scopes of work and reliable project costings. This role requires strong commercial roofing knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage estimating activities independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities include interpreting architectural and engineering plans; measuring roof areas and identifying materials, systems, accessories, and installation requirements; preparing quantity takeoffs and labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and disposal cost estimates; and obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations. You will prepare clear proposals, inclusions, exclusions, alternates, and clarifications, while ensuring estimates align with project specifications, applicable building codes, safety standards, and customer requirements. You will also maintain estimating records, update pricing databases, support bid submissions, participate in tender reviews, and communicate with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies.

Applicants should have proven experience estimating commercial roofing, construction, or a closely related trade, with a solid understanding of roofing assemblies, repair methods, replacement projects, waterproofing systems, sheet metal work, and associated building components. Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, spreadsheets, and standard office applications is required; experience with planswift, Bluebeam, or comparable platforms is advantageous. Strong numerical, analytical, organisational, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise multiple deadlines and produce accurate work under pressure. A relevant trade qualification, construction estimating certification, or equivalent practical experience is preferred. Reliable internet access, a professional home working environment, and availability to collaborate across relevant business hours are required.
