Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a distinguished commercial law firm with a fully remote Commercial Litigation Attorney role based in South Africa. The successful candidate will manage complex disputes from inception to resolution, conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and appear in court virtually where possible.

You must be admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa with at least seven years of post-admission experience in commercial litigation, handling contractual, shareholder,

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 7 years in commercial litigation.
• Experience in drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and arguing in various courts.
• Strong writing, research, and analytical skills; remote-friendly posture.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters from initiation to conclusion.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to build strong cases.
• Draft pleadings, motions, applications, and other court documents.
• Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and mediations (physically or virtually as required).
• Negotiate settlements and advise clients on resolution strategies.
• Conduct discovery, including document review and witness examinations.
• Advise clients on risk assessment and litigation strategy.
• Liaise effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
• Stay abreast of legal developments and case law relevant to commercial litigation.
