Job summary

Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) North Carolina is seeking an Advisory Instructor for 9th–11th grade to deliver a rigorous college-prep curriculum entirely online. Instruction occurs via Zoom with a 8:45–2:15 schedule and select Saturdays, offering up to 13 hours per programming week.

The role requires strong content knowledge, K-12 or higher teaching experience, and comfort with LMS tools. Compensation is $40/hour, non-exempt, with remote work from Guilford County, NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a content-related field is required.
• Teaching certification or K-12 classroom experience, or college teaching exposure is required.
• Must be comfortable with and proficient in navigating learning tech systems.
• Strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy and high school engagement.

Responsibilities

• Teach ~2 periods of Advisory and lead when covering other instructors.
• Utilize Brightspace, Nearpod, G Suite, and Zoom to facilitate learning.
• Prepare and internalize lesson plans; adjust pacing for student needs.
• Host tutoring sessions and support students in skill development.
• Promote a positive classroom culture and engagement.
• Attend scheduled meetings and respond to communications in a timely manner.
• Meet with instructional coach to implement feedback and improve instruction.
