Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of college counseling.
• Extensive knowledge of the college application process, including admissions requirements, financial aid, and scholarships.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present and facilitate meetings.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple students.
• Experience with international admissions is preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individualized strategy sessions with students beginning in 9th grade to develop tailored admissions strategies.
• Maintain consistent communication with students and parents about goals and progress.
• Research and develop balanced college lists (reach/target/likely) aligned with academics, interests, and budget.
• Assist with brainstorming, outlining, and refining personal statements and essays.
• Manage application timelines and guide students through complete, compelling applications.
• Provide guidance on course selection, standardized testing, and extracurricular activities.
• Review and optimize resumes to highlight strengths and achievements.
• Prepare students for college interviews through mock sessions and feedback.
• Stay updated on evolving admissions standards and requirements.
• Participate in webinars to broaden reach and support Kaplan's consulting services.
• Offer curriculum development, counselor training, and content strategy aligned with best practices.
