Job summary

Kaplan is seeking an experienced College Admissions Consultant to guide high school students and families through the college application journey. You’ll craft personalized strategies, help identify fit colleges, and support essays, resumes, and interview prep, all conducted remotely with students nationwide.

The role requires 5+ years of counseling, a bachelor’s degree, and deep knowledge of admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and academic planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of college counseling experience
• Extensive knowledge of college admissions process, financial aid, scholarships, and academic planning
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation abilities
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple students through the application cycle

Responsibilities

• Conduct individualized strategy sessions with students beginning in 9th grade to craft tailored admissions plans
• Maintain ongoing communication with students and parents to align goals and progress
• Develop balanced college lists with reach, target, and likely schools aligned to interests and budgets
• Assist with brainstorming, outlining, and refining personal statements and supplemental essays
• Manage application timelines and guide accurate, standout submissions
• Provide guidance on course selection, standardized testing, and extracurricular planning
• Review and optimize resumes to highlight strengths and achievements
• Prepare students for college interviews with mock sessions and feedback
• Stay current on college admissions trends and requirements
• Participate in webinars and contribute to curriculum development, counselor training, and content creation
