Aalyria is seeking a DSP Engineer to develop next‑generation modem technologies for coherent free-space/optical links. You will design and optimize DSP algorithms, architect end‑to‑end modem chains, and translate them into hardware‑deployable solutions.

Join a multidisciplinary team spanning ASIC/FPGA design and RF/optical hardware. Remote work with occasional travel to Mountain View, CA, and opportunities to impact aerospace communications and national security programs.

Qualifications

• Must have advanced knowledge of DSP and communications theory.
• Hands-on experience with coherent DSP or high-speed SerDes/optical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize coherent DSP algorithms for high-speed systems.
• Architect end-to-end modem DSP chains including equalization, timing recovery, carrier recovery, and FEC integration.
• Perform system-level modeling, simulation, and performance analysis including link budgets.
• Develop algorithms such as adaptive equalization, timing and carrier synchronization, and impairment mitigation.
• Evaluate optical/electrical channels and hardware impairments; map DSP to ASIC/FPGA.
• Collaborate with hardware/firmware teams to integrate DSP into modem designs.
• Support lab bring-up, validation, and characterization of modem systems.
• Analyze industry standards (OIF, IEEE Ethernet) and incorporate into designs.
