Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Coding Specialist II for a full-time remote role focused on training, mentoring, and delivering accurate CPT, HCPCS and ICD coding across clinical encounters.

The position requires 3–5 years of coding experience, AAPC/AHIMA certification, and proficiency with EPIC and AS400. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and the role follows standard M-F hours in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant coding experience.
• Experience with EPIC and AS400 systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.

Responsibilities

• Provides training, mentoring, and leadership to Coding Specialist I employees.
• Performs coding for CPT, HCPCS, ICD codes prior to charge entry.
• Reviews EPIC charge review queues for coding/billing errors.
• Conducts prospective reviews of all surgical or procedural visits.
• Reviews 5%-10% physician office visits for proper coding.
• Performs charge entry in EPIC or AS400 as needed.
• Other duties as required.
