Qualifications

• Experience in CPT and ICD coding preferred.
• Experience in healthcare environments preferred.
• Certification in coding (AAPC/AHIMA) required.
• Proficiency with EPIC and hospital billing processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides training, mentoring, and leadership to Coding Specialist I employees.
• Performs coding from medical records, assigns CPT, HCPCS and ICD codes prior to charge entry.
• Reviews EPIC charge review work queues for coding/billing errors and makes corrections.
• Conducts prospective reviews of surgical or procedural visits for correct coding.
• Reviews a percentage of physician visits for proper CPT/ICD code assignment.
• Performs charge entry into EPIC/AS400 or other hospital billing systems as needed.
