Job summary

United Airlines seeks a senior solution architect to lead development architecture across initiatives. You will translate business needs into scalable, multi‑region cloud designs on AWS and mentor project teams.

You will collaborate with PlatformOps, DevOps, and development teams to adopt modern patterns like microservices, REST APIs, and event‑driven models, while guiding stakeholders and forecasting future technology needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in business, data, or development planning.
• Proven experience designing and operating high-availability, multi-region AWS systems.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services and architecture: ECS, EKS, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, Lambda, MSK/Solace, S3.
• Experience designing SOA, microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven models.
• Familiarity with Visio/Draw.io and architecture artefacts.
• Proficiency in Java/.NET/Python.
• Ability to make informed business decisions and influence stakeholders.
• Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior solution architect in the development discipline.
• Provide guidance to stakeholders to resolve current and future state business, data, and technology challenges.
• Lead architectural design improvements and enforce standards across projects.
• Architect scalable, multi-region AWS solutions (ECS, EKS, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, Lambda, MSK/Solace, S3).
• Mentor project teams and provide architectural guidance for complex programs.
• Translate business requirements into architecture terms and delineate high-level solution approaches.
• Own architectural decision records and communicate benefits to programs.
• Collaborate with PlatformOps, DevOps, and Development teams to adopt microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven models.
• Forecast future technology needs and drive enterprise adoption.
