Job summary

The American Institute of Physics is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the Infrastructure & Cloud Administration team. You will manage Azure cloud infrastructure, handle Level 3 incident response, and support identity/security operations for a scientific publishing organization.

The role emphasizes automation, DevSecOps collaboration, and modernization efforts, with a remote-first approach and opportunities to work across multiple IT domains and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of infrastructure, systems administration, or cloud operations experience.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting.
• Experience working within a cross-functional Cloud Operations or DevSecOps team.
• Experience using work management and collaboration platforms such as Jira.

Responsibilities

• Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues, partnering with senior engineers on the hardest problems.
• Troubleshoot cloud, server, networking, identity, and application connectivity problems.
• Participate in root cause analysis and problem resolution efforts.
• Participate in major incident response and problem management activities.
• Collaborate with Security on vulnerability management and platform hardening.
